Joseph M. Faria, 70, of Johnston, RI, longtime companion of Laura Paquette, husband of Teresa (Arruda) Faria, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital after a short illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose Faria and the late Adelaide (Luciano) Faria, he emigrated to Fall River in 1967 and resided in Johnston for the past 20 years.
Upon graduating from Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Joseph worked as an auto body repairman for a while. Following that he was employed with Feinburg Produce of Providence for a number of years, then went to work as a truck driver with Webster Trucking for many years – retiring in 2013.
Joe enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing, going out to dinner, and occasional travel. He was a good father with a heart of gold who loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides Laura and Teresa, he is survived by: two children, Alfredo J. Faria and Diane Camara both of Fall River; two siblings, Manuel Faria and Margarida Faria; two grandchildren, Caleb and Ava; and many nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Maria Fatima Medeiros.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, January 7th, at Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Joseph's memory to the American Diabetes Association; https://diabetes.org.
