VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Joseph L. Barboza, 65, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the former husband of Janice (Silva) Barboza. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, son of Manuel Cordeiro Barboza of Fall River and the late Antonina (Roias) Barboza. A resident of Fall River for over 40 years, he spent his childhood in Tiverton, RI after his emigration when he was 11 years old. He became a US citizen in 1978 and spent many years working in construction and landscaping. He was a member of the Laborer's Union Local # 73 and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing cards. Survivors include sons, Joseph Barboza, Jr., James S. Barboza and Jason L. Barboza, all of Fall River; a brother, Manuel Barboza of Tiverton; a sister, Mary Lou Gasior of Somerset; a grandson, Tyler N. Audet and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mas was celebrated on Thursday (4/23) in St. Dominic's Church, Swansea. Committal services followed at Notre Dame Cemetery.
