Joseph Louis Pavao, 79, the husband of Marjorie L. (Piva) Pavao, of Westport, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday. February 11, 2017. Joseph was born in Bretanha, St. Michael and was a son of the late Luis and Maria (Diogo) Pavao. He moved to America with his family at age 14. He was the owner of, Lincoln,Woodland, Pavao Real Estate, Anchor Uniforms and Whaling Manufacturing where at one point he employed over 700 employees. As an employer he was very well respected by all of his employees. Mr. Pavao was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a proud committee member of the Republican Party of Westport. He was known for his generosity to those less fortunate. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Pamela and her husband Jeffrey Wade of Taunton, Lisa Assad and her husband Steven of Dartmouth, Kimberley Soares and her husband Jeffrey of Westport, Sheila Gagnon of Fall River, Joseph Louis Pavao, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Berkely, and Jennifer Kelliher of Dartmouth; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Joe was the brother of Odelia DeMello of Dartmouth, Adeline Manosh of Tiverton , James Pavao of Westport, Ralph Pavao of North Carolina, Tony Pavao of Fall River, and Madeline Teixeira of New Bedford. He was the brother to the late Isabel Raposa and Natalie Rackley. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 16th, in Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport, followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joe's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
