Joseph Medeiros, 91, of Fall River, husband of Dolores (Correia) Medeiros, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Fall River HealthCare after a long illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Jose A. and Maria E. Medeiros. He served in the Navy on the USS Helena and USS Iowa. He was a firefighter for the City of Fall River for 31 years retiring in 1988 as a Lieutenant. He loved to go deer hunting in Maine. A talented Master Bricklayer, he also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and socializing. He was a life-time member of NRA, Over the Hill Gang, Knights of Columbus Fr. Boyd Council, Rod and Gun Club of Fall River & New Bedford, High Hill Fox and Coon Club, and Local 3 Union Bricklayers MA. Besides his wife of sixty-six years, he leaves: his daughters, Joanne Pearson and her husband, Robert, and Sue Medeiros, both of Fall River; two grandchildren, Tracy Schonhoff (Stephen) and Kevin Pearson (Kara); four great-grandchildren, Betsy and Aiden Pearson, Zachary and Jake Schonhoff; brothers, Lewis Medeiros (Jaclyn) of New Jersey, James Medeiros (Nancy) of Fall River, and George Medeiros (Pam) of MA; sisters, Mary Lamothe (Maurice) of  R.I., and Beverly Weston  (John) of TN; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Irene Lowney, Pauline Perry, Maria Medeiros, Delfina Starkey, Deolinda Wulterkens, Diamentina Hiland, Cecelia Machado, and Hilda Levesque. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the staff at Fall River HealthCare for the compassionate care Joseph received during his stay. His Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, May 17th, in Holy Name Church followed by his committal with military honors at Notre Dame Cemetery.
