d. Jul 15, 2024
Joseph P. Silva, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 15, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, Joe was the loving husband of Laurinda (Lopes) Silva for fifty-four years.
Joe emigrated to the United States in 1967 and established routes in Fall River for several years before moving to Dartmouth. He worked as a mechanic and contractor for many years before creating and running his own company, Silva Construction Co. Inc., which he retired from.

A devout Catholic, he and his wife welcomed the Holy Ghost into their home for four feasts.
When he wasn't working on some type of project, Joe enjoyed attending many events, listening to music, and spending time with his family. He most loved to dance with his wife, play cards with his children, and listen to his grandson play the saxophone.
In addition to his wife and predeceased daughter, Karen Coelho, Joe is survived by his daughter , Brigitte, of Dartmouth; son, Joseph Silva Jr., of Taunton; grandson, Christopher Coelho, of Dartmouth; siblings: Donatilde Faria of Somerset, Bruno Silva of Swansea, Carlos Silva of Swansea, and Fatima Mota of Somerset; and several nephews, nieces, and in-laws.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 20th, at Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery both in Fall River.
