Joseph M. Salamon, 62, of Somerset, passed away at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home in Fall River, after a courageous 8 month battle with cancer. He was the husband of Nancy (Rapoza) Salamon, with whom he would have celebrated 37 years of marriage in June. Born in Providence, RI, he was a son of Anna M. (Caminsky) Salamon and the late Joseph A. Salamon. He was a graduate of Warren High School, Johnson & Wales University and Roger Williams University. A Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy, he served on the USS Kittyhawk. He was a sales and marketing manager for the Nestle Food Corp in the MA/RI area for many years. He was a member of Swansea VFW Post 2045 and the Somerset Progressive Club. Joseph was known for his wonderful sense of humor and congeniality. He was proud of his family and his happiest moments were when the family was together – whether weekly for Sunday dinner or the many holiday and family celebrations. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Julie Berube & her husband Jason of Somerset, Bethany Salamon of Taunton and Katherine Salamon of Somerset; brothers, John and James Salamon of Warren, RI; a sister, Constance Small of Charlotte, NC; beloved granddaughters, Isabel and Sadie Berube and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John of God Church. Pallbearers Brad and Matthew Rapoza, Rhett Manning, James Salamon, David Salamon, Michael Morin and Jean-Paul Arsenault brought Joseph to his final resting place at Nathan Slade Cemetery.
