Joseph W. Sheppard, 88, of Somerset, husband of the late Evelyn (Falandys) Sheppard, died peacefully on Tuesday. Born in New Orleans, LA, son of the late William and Irma (Fritz) Sheppard. Joseph was a Navy Veteran during peacetime and worked for many years as a union pipefitter. He had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed keeping track of the daily stock market. Joe was also a very active member of the Somerset Senior Center and Triad. He is survived by 2 sons, Thomas D. Sheppard (wife Mary-Anne) of Rotunda, FL and Joseph W. Sheppard (wife-Lynne) of Manchester, NH; 2 daughters, Carrie L. Tremko (husband-Peter) of Madison, AL and Susan M. Sheppard (partner-Terry) of Swansea; a sister, Marion Mattie; 8 grandchildren, Peter, Christopher, Robert, Jennifer, Allison, Patrick, Phillip and William; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Donald Sheppard. His Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 16th, in our Somerset Chapel followed by his committal with Military Honors at St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
