Joseph Torres, 62, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Manuel Rego Torres and the late Maria Conceicao (Viveiros) Torres.

He worked for the City of Fall River Police Department as a Dispatcher for twenty-eight years receiving many commendations and citizen awards over the years. An avid sports fan, he loved The Boston Bruins, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Red Sox. He also had a love for cars and enjoyed attending musical concerts. Joseph was a long-time member of Sociedade Cultural Acoreana, Inc. and a volunteer for the Greater Fall River Relay for Life. But what was most important to Joseph was spending quality time with his family.

He leaves his loving sisters and brothers, Maria Olivia Torres (late husband, Leonel) of Fall River, Esmeralda Torres and her long-time companion, Fernando Machado, of Rehoboth, Rose Ferreira of Florida, David Torres and his wife, Stephanie, and Louis Torres and his wife, Maria, both of Fall River; his sister-in-law, Lucy Torres; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Gilda Torres and the late John Torres.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 13th, in Holy Name Church, followed by his committal at St. Patricks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Joseph's memory to: The Greater Fall River Relay for Life. http://RelayForLife.org/GreaterFallRiverMa
