Obituary

Joseph C. Vieira, 81, of Fall River, husband of Claudia (Nunes) Vieira, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2020 at Charlton Memorial after a brief illness. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel and Adelina (Carreiro) Vieira.

A United States Veteran of the Air Force, he proudly served our Country during peacetime. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Montaup Country Club.  Considered a "handyman", Joseph also enjoyed gardening and traveling to such places as Florida and Hawaii. But most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who very much loved his family.

Besides his wife of fifty years, he leaves: his children, Karen Kozlowski and her husband, Peter, of New York City, and Keith J. Vieira and his wife, Rebecca, of Dighton; two grandchildren, Kendall Kozlowski and Kaylee Vieira; a sister, Julie Dunn and her husband, Thomas, of Fall River; brothers, John Vieira of Portsmouth, R.I., and Louis Vieira and his wife, Jackie, of Venice, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary Jewell and Manuel Vieira.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 11th, in Holy Name Church followed by his private committal with military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery.
