Joseph "Zip" Almeida, 89, formerly of GAR Hwy, Somerset passed away on Tuesday. Husband of the late Dolores (Santos) Almeida. Born in Somerset, son of the late Julio and Deolinda Almeida. A Navy veteran of WWII, he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Teamsters Local #526 and worked as a concrete weigher for many years. An avid golfer, he was a member of Pine Valley. Beloved father of Robert J. Almeida and Brenda J. Quinn (husband-Thomas); grandfather of Eryn and Kylie Almeida. Katie and Michael Quinn; great grandfather of Tristan Harrington; brother of the late Zermira Enos, Pauline Lindberg, James and Antone Almeida. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 3, follow in St. Thomas More Church. He was interred with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
