Joyce M. Desforges, 68, of Somerset was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 after a brief illness. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Lillian B. (Andrade) and Alfred Botelho Raposa of Somerset and the former wife of Robert D. Desforges of Swansea. She is survived by her sister Bernice C. Raposa of Somerset; her children Lisa M. Desforges of NYC and Kevin R. Desforges of Somerset; and her cherished dog "Casie."
She was blessed by a strong faith in Jesus Christ first begun by the nuns of Dominican Academy, sustained by various Catholic parishes in her life, and blossomed while a member of Grace Gospel Church in Somerset. As a graduate of Bryant College earning a B.A. in Business Education, she developed a passion for educating people first as a business teacher at New Bedford High School, next as an independent financial consultant, and finally as a business instructor at the former Sawyer Business School in Pawtucket. She enjoyed relaxing in her backyard, fine dining, New York City, a trek through Europe, history, red wine and a cigarette, playing poker for fun, and discussing world events and politics.
Her Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 11th, in Grace Gospel Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
