Obituary

Julia Veronica Ryan, 101, of Fall River and wife of the late Francis Ryan, Sr., passed away peacefully on October 18, 2021 in the comforts of her home. Born in New York, New York, she was a daughter of the late Joseph McGowan and the late Adelaide (Stadler) McGowan.

A United States Army Veteran, she proudly served her country during WWII. Prior to her retirement, she was a Cafeteria Manager for the City of Fall River School Department for many years. In her younger days, she enjoyed traveling with her family to such places as Florida, Hawaii, New York, Quebec, and London. But what was most important to Julia was spending quality time with all her family.

She leaves: her son, John Ryan, Jr., and his wife,  Lorna, of Englewood, Florida; her four grandchildren, Megan Ribeiro and her husband, Michael, Michael Ryan, both of Fall River, Timothy Ryan and his wife, Judy, of Plymouth, and Kerry Girard and her husband, David, of Westport; her seven great-grandchildren, Alexander Ryan, Olivia Lyman, Zachary McCone, Xavier Ryan, Torin Ryan, Jacob Girard, and Noah Girard; one sister, Adelaide Van Wyk (late husband, John) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; son-in-law, Ronald cote; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Theresa Ryan, Francis Ryan, Jr. (late wife, Mary), and Maureen Cote and sister of the late Joseph McGowan and John McGowan.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, October 28th, in Holy Name Church followed by her committal with military honors at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
