June E. Wildes, 75, of Somerset and formerly of Falmouth, passed away on March 16, 2009. She was the widow of Frank Wildes. Born in Dighton, daughter of the late Gordon and Florence (Gilbert) Hixon. A lifelong advocate of education, she was a graduate of New England Deaconess and her family was involved in the development of Bristol County Agricultrual School, where she continued to be involved in their scholarship programs. Most recently she was enrolled in classes at BCC. Her caring nature lead her to become a mentor for the Smiles Programs in Falmouth and a "friend" for the Compeer Program of S.E. Mass. She worked for many years as an RN at the Falmouth Hospital and at the JML Nursing Center. She became a volunteer for the Shine Program, assisting those in need with healthcare planning. She will be missed by her son, Gilbert Paul Lloyd of Somerset; daughter, Dori Banky of East Freetown; brother, Gordon Hixon of Taunton; sister Ruth Morrill of East Point, FL; grandsons Ben, Nathan and Sam Lloyd, her two favorite nieces, Pat Ambrosino and Michele Pitler as well as several other nieces, nephews and step-children. She was also sister of the late Thelma Hixon, Maralyn Bergeron and George Hixon and was the former wife of the late Dr. Donald Lloyd. Friends and family gathered to celebrate her life at at the Silva-Faria Somerset Funeral Home. Her memorial service was conducted by Reverend Charles A. Bark from Barrington United Methodist Church.
