Karen A.
Gariepy
d. Apr 6, 2025
Karen A. Gariepy, age 67, of Swansea, wife of Paul R. Gariepy, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Robert Millerick and the late Maureen (Dalton) Millerick.
After earning an associate's degree from Bristol Community College, Karen was employed as an operator with New England Telephone (now Verizon) for a number of years, but her main "occupation" was homemaker and raising her family. A loving wife, selfless mother and devoted "Mimi," she was a constant and unwavering source of support to her family.
She had a natural ability to connect with people. Fun-loving and full of life, Karen shared in both the joys and sorrows of those she loved, always by their side. She was a trusted confidante and a steady voice of wisdom, offering comfort, clarity, and advice to anyone who needed it. A lifelong dog lover, Karen found great joy and comfort in the companionship of her pets. She will be profoundly missed.
Besides her husband of 46 years, she is survived by: two sons, Jon Paul Gariepy (wife Deb Morel) of Windham, NH, and David R. Gariepy of Swansea; a sister, Cynthia Christy of Virginia; three grandchildren, Lucy, Jon, and Julia; and many nieces and nephews. She was also a proud "bonus Mimi" to Liam, her great-nephew, and Aurora, her great-niece.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, April 14th, at Our Lady of Peace Parish at St. Patrick's Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery, both in Somerset. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Karen's memory to Animal Rescue League of Fall River dba Faxon Animal Care & Adoption Center, 474 Durfee St, Fall River, MA 02720; 508-676-1061; http://www.arlfr.org .
