Kendall Smith
Just
d. Apr 29, 2023
Kendall S. Just, son of the late Russell and Helen (Smith) Just, brother to the late Russell "Ted" Just, and husband of Deborah (Albanese) Just, entered into rest while in his favorite chair and his wife's arms on April 29, 2023. Ken was the proud Pa to Alex, Ryan and Sarah, and the loving uncle to his adored niece Lauren Gallivan, husband Daniel, and his awesome nephew Scott "Mac" Just, wife Stacey. Ken is also survived by the truly best cousins any family could dream of.
He graduated from BMC Durfee High and Rhode Island School of trade. He was the Service Advisor at the former Empire Chevrolet and Downey Chevrolet from where he retired. He loved tinkering with cars and sometimes managed to actually fix them. Honestly.
Ken met the love of his life on a strongly persuaded date by his sister-in-law Sue. Deborah says, "Thank you Sue from the both of us, as it turned out to be our best forty-eight years."
A lifetime member of both the Wankinquoah Rod & Gun Club, of Middleboro, and the Fall River Rod & Gun Club, Ken was an outdoor enthusiast who was most comfortable, and at peace, in the woods or on the water. In his younger years, Ken loved to ride motorcycles, water-ski and go camping.
A special thank you to Dr. Sue Kim, Dr. Lelia Lamp, and Ann, our Nurse Navigator, and Ken's all-time favorite Dr. Marvin Berman. Each of you are dear to us. Also, a grateful shout-out goes to Hospice for bringing Ken as much comfort as possible.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Calling Hour to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Continued mask-wearing may be advisable for those who are immuno-compromised or not vaccinated.
His Funeral Service was held on Friday, May 5th, at the First Congregational Church in Fall River followed by his committal at Beech Grove Cemetery in Westport. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Ken's memory to one of his two favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; 800-805-5856; https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html or Shriners Children's Hospital, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114; 617-722-3000; Donate to Shriners Hospitals for Children® (lovetotherescue.org)
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website (www.silvafaria.com) and not through a third party. Thank you!
