Obituary

Kenneth Nowicki, age 60, a Somerset resident for most of his life, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 2, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph Nowicki and the late Mildred (Marshall) Nowicki. Although severely disabled throughout his lifetime, Ken was a well-known area advocate for individuals with disabilities. He was a longtime member of CORD – Cape Organization for the Rights of the Disabled, was appointed by the Somerset selectmen to serve on the town's 504 Disability Steering Committee, and was a State-wide presenter on Disability Awareness. Ken's passion was working with children to raise their awareness and acceptance of individual differences. He was a member of Westport Associates and Community Connections, agencies serving people with disabilities in the local area. Many cousins and their extended families that have been an integral part of his life for many years survive Ken. His Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Louis de France Church in Swansea. He was laid to rest at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
