Obituary

Kenneth R. Shields, 97, of Fall River, husband of the late Rita (Bouvier) Shields, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022 in the comfort of his home following a long illness. Born in Sackets Harbor, New York, he was a son of the late Charles Shields and the late Ivanalina (Young) Shields.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a printer in the local textile industry for many years. A proud WW II and Korean War Veteran of the United States, he served in both the Navy and Airforce. He was awarded several medals including the American Theater Medal, European African Middle Eastern Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the Victory Medal. An avid reader of classic Westerns, he also enjoyed watching them on Television. Kenneth also loved his scratch tickets, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his family.

He leaves his loving and devoted daughter, Dawn Shields-Barao and her husband, Bert, of Fall River; his four grandchildren, Eric Shields, Bryan Shields, Carrie Ann Shields, and Ethan Shields; one brother, Neil Shields of New Jersey; one sister, Henrieta Van de Waghe of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Kenneth R. Shields, Jr., Robin R. Shields, and Marc A. Shields.

The Shields family would like to thank all of the nurses from Community Nurse Home Care for the exceptional care they provided for Kenneth during his illness and final days.

His funeral arrangements were private. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Kenneth's memory to: Community Nurse Home Care, 62 Center Street, P.O. 751, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
