Lateefie "Lottie" (Hakeem) Pedro, age 88, of Westport, passed away on October 31, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of John Pedro. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Said and Azeezy (Mitri) Hakeem. Mrs. Pedro worked as a machine operator throughout the garment industry retiring from Santoro after 20 years of service. Lateefie truly enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was a dedicated Red Sox fan, but her first love was preparing traditional meals for family visits. She was a life long member of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church, having served many years in its Ladies Christian Unity Organization. She is survived by three brothers: Elias M. Hakeem of Somerset MA, Philip Hakeem and his wife Sara of Franklin, TN, and
Harry Hakeem of Albuquerque, NM, and several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Edward Hakeem. Her funeral was held on Tuesday, Nov.4, 2008 in the Calvary United Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Denise Soares and Rev. Edward Soares. Pallbearers, Harry, Bob and Jim Hakeem, Eddy Rashmany, Jesse Herrera, David Shahood, Alan Aboud and Alfred Deeb brought her to her final resting place in Oak Grove Cemetery.
