Laurenio C. Pavao, 89, of Fall River, loving husband of Irene (Rezendes) Pavao, passed away peacefully in his home on April 4, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. Son of the late Manuel C. Pavao and the late Gilda (Cabral) Pavao, he was born in St. Michael, Azores, where he lived until 1953, when at age 19 he relocated to Fall River.
Family members include: beloved wife of 64 years, Irene (Rezendes) Pavao; loving daughter, Donna Marie Perry, and her husband Anthony, whom he loved like a son, and his beloved and cherished granddaughter Lilian M. Perry of Somerset, MA; and loving daughter Debra Ann Pavao (partner Joseph Surprenant) of Fairhaven, MA.
Seven siblings, the late Manuel C. Pavao, Jr., (late wife Dolores) of Fall River; Gilberta Marques (late husband Jerome) of Fall River; Cidalia Lopes (husband Anthony) of Fall River; Alda Mello (late husband John) of Westport; Aurelio Pavao (late wife Lucy) of Fall River; Marina Moniz (husband Ronald) of Somerset; and Olimpio Pavao (wife Paulette) of Tiverton, RI; Sister-in-law Georgina Mello (late husband Robert) of Westport, late bother-in-law Antone Rezendes Jr. (late wife Irene) of Westport, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry worked as a foreman for Sherry Construction in Swansea until retirement and then took on part-time employment at St. Patrick's Cemetery Fall River. An active parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, Larry enjoyed fishing, gardening, nature walks with his granddaughter and Sunday afternoon family drives; he also liked watching soccer, baseball, hockey and the Animal Channel.
Larry had the unique ability of connecting with people through his humor, kindness and wisdom. He possessed invaluable knowledge on a wide variety of topics which he was always eager to share in order to inspire and mentor others with. His endless enthusiasm for nature, religion, and life invigorated everyone he spoke to, as he loved to socialize and educate. His kindness, compassion, and love for life impacted everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting positive impact. He will be greatly missed and always loved.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, April 8th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or consider making a donation in Larry's memory to a charity of your choice.
