Lauretta Markland, 85, of Crawford Nursing Home, formerly of Lafayette Place, passed away July 23, after a brief illness. Widow of Joseph Markland. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late George and Adele (Letendre) Barbeau. Past secretary of Lafayette Place Senior Club and past president of Immaculate Conception Women's Guild, where she also sang in the choir. Sister of Jeannette Martin formerly Pelletier and the late Rev. Roland G. Barbeau. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Following her cremation, a Memorial Mass was celebrated on Thursday, August 1, in St. Bernadette Church, followed by the committal of her ashes at Notre Dame Cemetery.
