Obituary

Lawrence Ferreira, 77, of Fall River, passed away Friday at the Catholic Memorial Home. Devoted husband of Veronica J. (Franco) Ferreira for 53 years. Their relationship has always been a testament to the meaning of marriage. Born and raised in Fall River, son of the late Manuel & Rose (Silvia) Ferreira, he was an Army Sergeant serving in the Korean War, earning two Bronze Stars, a Combat Infantry Badge and a UN Service Medal. He served as a Fall River Police Officer for 36 years, retiring as Badge 1 in 1997. Mr. Ferreira was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church and a member of the Fall River Police Assoc, Massachusetts Police Assoc, and the Thomas Chew Memorial Boys Club. His children, Lawrence D. Ferreira (Ronda Bernier), Donna Ramunno,(David Ramunno), and Karyl Benoit (George Benoit) and grandchildren, Elisabeth & Angela Ramunno, Adam, Samuel & Leah Benoit, and Abigail & Jack Ferreira will always be grateful for the strong, kind, selfless person he was. His funeral Mass was offered in the Chapel at the Catholic Memorial Home, followed by interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery, in Fall River.
