Obituary

Lawrence R., better known as "Larry," "L-Train," Machado, Sr., 79, of Swansea, husband of Patricia (Scolaro) Machado, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Fall River, a son of the late George Machado and the late Hermenia (Camara-Cambra) Machado, he resided in Swansea for most of his life.

A graduate from Diman Vocational Technical High School in 1963, Larry was drafted into the Army where he served his country proudly. A Vietnam Veteran with honorable discharge. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Bishop Cassidy Council Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, Faithful Navigator and an active member of St. Dominics Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister and dedicated member of the church. Larry received The Marian Medal, also known as a Catholic devotional medal. He was involved in St. Vincent DePaul Society and The Holy Spirit Society.

Larry was an active father and spent a lot of his days coaching baseball with his children at Swansea Independent Baseball League. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He worked as a licensed electrician for 40 years at the Foxboro Company in Foxboro, MA.

Besides his wife of 59 years, he is survived by: "The 5 L's", Lawrence Machado Jr. (wife Kim) of Mashpee, Lorrie Prior (Donald R. Prior Jr.) of Swansea, Leonard Machado (spouse Rich Rigolini) of Everett, Lance Machado (wife Cherie) of Warren, RI, and Lyle Machado (wife Andrea) of Swansea; seven siblings, Robert D. Machado of Fall River, Ronald W. Machado of Sterling, VA, Judith Wong of Westport, Sandra Machado of Rehoboth, Patricia Nicolan of Westport, Roger Machado of Florida, and Sharon Machado of Fall River; brother-in-law, Richard Scolaro of Swansea; sister-in-law, Agnes Rego of Tiverton, RI; 13 grandchildren, Lawrence R. Machado III, Melissa Machado, Ashley Locketti, Alexis Cobb, Tyler Karras, Joshua Prior, Kayla Prior, Lindsey Prior, Timothy Machado, Jeremy Machado, Nicholas Pierotti, Andrew Machado and Hudson Machado; 7 great grandchildren, Brayden Cobb, Logan Cobb, Brielle Machado, Lawrence R. Machado IV, Gianna Green, Kaley Green and Dawson Winninghoff; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was also predeceased by four siblings, Paul, George, Carl & Edward and brother-in-law Philip Scolaro.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, June 26th, at St. Dominic's Church followed by his committal with military honors at Mount Hope Cemetery both in Swansea.
