Lena (Ashook) Roy of New Bedford, formerly a life long resident of Fall River, passed away after a long illness on Friday, October 26.  Born on May 7,1931 in the city of Aley, Lebanon, she was the only child of John and Waleed (Mildred) Ashook.  A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School (class of '49) she later took employment at various positions which included the Newport Naval Base and concluded with her work as a paraprofessional with the Fall River Public Schools for many years until her retirement.

She leaves behind: three children, John Roy and his wife Lisa of Acushnet, Heidi Roy of Dartmouth and Courtney Scrocca of Bow, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren, Corey Scrocca, Jessica Milton, Amanda Gil, Rebecca Scrocca, as well as Hailey, Connor and Jack Roy; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Scrocca, Aubrey Milton, Julian Gil and the soon to be expected Damian Gil.  The family would also like to acknowledge both Michael Farias and Russell Scrocca for their presence in Lena's life.  Many thanks of gratitude to the staff of the St. Michael's Unit at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home in New Bedford for their compassionate devotion over the past two years.

A Service of Remembrance was held during a visitation period on Thursday, November 1st, in our Fall River Chapel.  Burial arrangements were private.
