Obituary

Leo R. L'Homme, 81, of Swansea, husband of the late Joan (Monsour) L'Homme, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at St. Anne's Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Leo L'Homme and the late Anna (Desmairas) L'Homme.

Prior to his retirement he was an elementary school principal for the City of New Bedford Public School System for many years. At the time of his passing he was the owner and operator of Leo R. L'Homme Certified Public Accounting in Fall River. An avid golfer and member of the Fall River Country Club, he also loved reading, and, in his younger days, fishing. He enjoyed many cruises and traveling extensively throughout the world. Having a diverse appreciation of art, Leo was also a veteran member of the Fall River Art Association.

Besides his loving companion, Geraldine Cavanaugh, he leaves his loving granddaughters, Jolie Xifaras of Tampa, Florida, Alexandra Xifaras of Brooklyn, New York, and Athena Xifaras and Electra Xifaras, both of Fairhaven, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Courtney Xifaras and brother of the late Milton Dunlop and the late Warren Dunlop.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, March 2nd, at Holy Name Church in Fall River, followed by his committal at Vinnicum Woods Cemetery in Swansea. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Leo's memory to: Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
