Leo E. Moniz, 89, of Swansea, passed away on Sunday. Husband of the late Mary R. (Cabral) Moniz. Born in Fall River, son of the late Joseph and Carmen (Saucier) Moniz. A WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Leo owned and operated Edward's Motor Lines, Express Transport and Cargo Equipment Rental. He was an avid golfer and lifetime member of the Elk's Lodge. Leo loved the Red Sox and proudly held home plate season tickets since the 70's. He was the beloved father of Lee C. Moniz, fiancé Thomas Tracy of Swansea, Kim C. Moniz of Boca Raton, FL, Nancy Moniz of Fall River and Gail Ward of Tiverton, RI; brother of Donald Moniz of Somerset and Beatrice Bolduc of Milford, CT; grandfather of Jake Moniz, Ryan Sylvia, Kristen Sylvia and Jonathan Moniz; great grandfather of Luke Sylvia, Hadley Sylvia, Brittany Moniz and Brandon Moniz; and several nieces and nephews. Following his cremation, a Memorial Mass was celebrated on Monday, October 20th, in St. Francis of Assisi Church on Gardners Neck Rd. in Swansea.
