Leonel R. Torres, 70, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday after an extended illness. Husband of Mary O. Torres, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Born in St. Vincent Ferreira, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Antonio R. & Maria Louisa (Pereira) Torres. A laborer for various local construction companies, he spent the most time working for the former National Fence Company. He was a soccer trainer for Young Nationals and Micalense soccer leagues, Fernando's Place and Lindo's Snackbar soccer teams. Besides his wife, Leonel is survived by his daughters, Lisa Marie Medeiros, Christina Marie Torres and Amanda Lynn Torres, all of Fall River; a brother, Jeremias Torres of Westport; sisters, Maria Ines Ramos, Fatima Rosa and Cidalia Pereira, all of Fall River; grandchildren, Machaela, Anthony, Lashawn and Gabriel; and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 24, in our Fall River Chapel followed by his committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
