Obituary

Leonilde Braga, the wife of João Braga, passed away on February 21, 2018 at the age of 79. Leonilde was born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores and was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mariana Miranda Botelho. Leonilde enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and most of all, her family. She was caring, loving, and patient; she instilled her morals and beliefs into not only her children and grandchildren, but also into the many lives she touched. She believed that everyone was equal, no one was better than another, and therefore we should never judge. Leonilde was the light of the party and her presence will be missed, however, her family will continue to carry that light with them throughout their lives.

Leonilde will forever be missed by her husband and soulmate of 54 years, João Braga. She will not only remain in the hearts of her children, Marcia Braga, Carlos Braga (wife, Grace), and Ana Braga; but also her grandchildren, Shauna Ferry (husband, Andrew), Alec Santos, Corey Braga, Brandon Braga, Sarah Braga, and Celina Braga. Leonilde also leaves behind three siblings, Gabriel Botelho (wife, Hermanda), Miguel Botelho (wife, Mary Lou), and Connie Sousa (husband, Laudalino). She was also the sister of the late David Botelho (late wife, Isabel) and the late Manuel Botelho (wife, Inês). Many nieces, nephews and friends will also miss the joy she brought into their lives.

Everyone loved her and will be left with a void that will never be filled.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory directly to NBIA Disorders Association, a cause that was dear to her heart in hopes for a cure for her grandson. You may donate at NBIA Disorders Association 2082 Monaco Court, El Cajon, CA 92019 or online by clicking here.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated together with her brother David M. Botelho and her sister-in-law Isabel M. Botelho on Saturday, March 10th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by their committal in Notre Dame Cemetery where she will rest in peace.
