Libania Sousa, 94, of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Fenais da Ajuda, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel and the late Julia (Freitas) Melo, she emigrated to Fall River in 1969. Prior to her retirement in 1990, she worked for a number of years as a housekeeper at various local area nursing homes.

She is survived by: four children, Maria Sousa of Fall River, Madalena Medeiros of Fall River, Joe Sousa of St. Michael, Azores, and David Sousa of Lisbon, Portugal; a sister, Maria Melo of Fall River; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Manuel A. Sousa; and a sister of the late Manuel and Jacinto Freitas.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 7th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
