Lidia DaSilva, age 82, passed away at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River on Saturday, August 13, 2016, following an extended illness. She was the wife of David DaSilva of Fall River. Born on the island of St. Michael in the Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Botelho and the late Guilhermina (DoRego) Botelho. A resident of Fall River since 1963, she was employed as a sewing machine operator for twenty years at the former Center Garment Company prior to opening her own salon, Hair Fashions by Lidia, which she operated for seven years. Lidia was also a nurse's aide for thirteen years at the Catholic Memorial Home until her retirement in 1999. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fall River and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Lidia loved to cook and enjoyed sewing & crochet. In addition to her husband, David, surviving family members include her three children; David DaSilva, Jr, of Tiverton, RI, Arthur DaSilva of Swansea, and Laurie Purcell, also of Swansea, five grandchildren; Jason, Nicole, Andrew, Travis and Ashley, and many nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, August 18th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal and entombment in the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
