Lidia Soares, 91, of Fall River, widow of Guilherme O. Soares, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at St. Anne's Hospital.  Born in Santa Barbara, Santo Antonio, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel B. Silva and the late Maria Rosa (Raposa) Silva, she emigrated to Fall River in 1955.

Prior to her retirement in 1989, Lidia was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry with various companies, including Nancy Dress.  She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

A devout Catholic and active parishioner, Lidia was a member of the Espirito Santo Church Holy Rosary Sodality and the Holy Ghost Society.  She was also a member of the Our Lady of Light Society.  Lidia volunteered many years in the church kitchen for various functions; and helped make the malassadas for Fall River's big feast at Kennedy Park, as well.

She is survived by: two children, William Soares (wife Irene) of Somerset, and Ann M. Carlos (husband Carlos) of Fall River; four siblings, Rose S. Oliveira (late husband Alfredo), Joseph B. Silva (wife Julie), Manuel R. Silva (wife Mary), Maria do Carmen "Mary" Silvia (husband Lenny); five granddaughters whom she adored with all her heart, Jillian Soares (husband Jesse Weber-Barlett), Lauren Taylor (husband Matthew), Arianna Carlos, Angela Carlos, and Alandra Carlos; one great granddaughter, Sloane Lidia Taylor; step-grandchildren Jillian Alves (husband Jeff) and Eric Lebow (wife Megan); step-great-grandchildren Emma Alves and Parker Lebow; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.  Lidia was predeceased by three siblings, Ledwina "Donna" Cardoza (late husband Bill), Eugenia "Mary" Ferreira (husband Gerald), and late Miguel B. Silva.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 9:00 am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in Espirito Santo Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
