Obituary

Lorraine Sardinha, 90, of Portsmouth, RI, wife of the late Henry Sardinha, passed-away peacefully in her home on August 9, 2020.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Lorraine was a daughter of the late Antonio Bento Daniel, born in Ponta Garca, Azores and the late Delvina Rose (Sequeira) Daniel, born in Bristol, RI.

Lorraine retired at the age of 70 as a proud member of the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union and worked as a sewing machine operator producing high-end coats. She ran a flea market business to support her love of both international and domestic travel. She instilled her adventurous spirit in her children with a sprinkle of her "adventure dust." She was happiest when surrounded by family and continued the tradition of hosting a Christmas Eve party for the extended family for 52 years. She was a strong and caring wife and mother and loved her children unconditionally. Her legacy is one of helping others lift themselves up, always seeing the good in people, and being a kind and caring soul.

She leaves behind her loving sisters Geraldine Lapre and Patricia Ahaesy and her devoted children, Henry Sardinha and his wife Claire of Portsmouth, David Sardinha and his wife Pamela of Tiverton, Gail and Gloria Sardinha of Lakeland, FL, and Barbara Sardinha of Portsmouth. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Christopher Sardinha, April Sjosten, Eric Sardinha, Shelly Jaseau, Craig Sardinha, Jamie and Chace Gordon, and seven great-grandchildren, Lucy and Ella Sjosten, Cora, Kai and Jake Sardinha, Harper Gaudet and upcoming arrival Eliza Lorraine Sardinha.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, August 15th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail.

To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
