Louis Moniz, 81, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday after an extended illness. Husband of Pauline (Silva) Moniz. Born in Fall River, son of the late Frank and Mary C. Moniz. Early in his career, Louie was a firefighter for the Somerset Fire Department for 19 years. In 1971, former Presiding Justice Milton R. Silva appointed Louis Chief Court Officer of the 2nd District Court of Bristol County, a position he held until 1990. He also served as harbormaster for the Town of Somerset for about 20 years. Uncle of Susan, Leslie and Brian Heap, William Pereira, Anne and David Silva, Marybeth Lenz, Pamela McNulty, Kimberly Collins, Tyler and Allyson Heap, brother of the late Frank Pereira and Mary Heap. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, April 27th, in St. John of God Church followed by his committal at Nathan Slade Cemetery.
