Louis P. Furtado, 83, of Swansea, husband of Margaret (Tomas) Furtado, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, RI. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Francisco Tabicas and the late Gilda (Pereira) Tabicas, he emigrated in 1951 to the greater Providence area, then moved to Swansea in 1975.

He worked for Amtrak for over 30 years. A hard-working individual and jack-of-all-trades, he led the building of six homes for the family with his brother at his side and with the help of family members. Louis enjoyed raising Greyhounds and dog-racing. His great grandson was the light of his life.

Besides his wife, of 63 years, he is survived by: two sons, Roy T. Furtado (wife Alda) of Rehoboth and Christopher T. Furtado (partner Wendy) of Swansea; a brother, Gil Tabicas (wife Adeline) of Swansea; two grandchildren, Ryan Furtado (wife Meghan) of Taunton and Cory Furtado (wife Amanda) of Riverside, RI; a great grandson, Noah; and several godchildren.

His private funeral was held on Monday, March 8th, from our Fall River Chapel with a committal service at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI.
