Lourdes Pereira Soares, 94, of Fall River, formerly of Cherry St., died Saturday at the Crawford Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the widow of Jose Soares. Born in Agua Retorta, Sao Miguel, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Luis and Gloria (Torres) Pereira. Survivors include a son, Jose Soares of Toronto, Canada, daughters, Gloria (Soares) Carreiro of Fall River and Noemia Bettencourt of Toronto, Canada, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Manuel P. Soares, Aristides P. Soares and Boanerges P. Soares, and sister of the late Alzira Nogueira, Carlos Torres, Maria de Conceicao Pereira, Isabel Carreiro and Artemisia Resendes. Her Funeral Mass, celebrated by Father Brian Albino, was offered on Wednesday (1/2) in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Committal services followed at St. Patrick Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert and Jorge Soares, Robert Resendes, Peter, David and Jose Carreiro.
