Obituary

Lucilia R. Rego, 91, of Fall River, wife of the late Jose Rego, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence following a brief illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Joao Viveiros Miranda and the late Maria Isabel (Raposa) Miranda.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a sewing machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. She loved cooking, baking, crocheting, and gardening. An avid walker, she also enjoyed traveling to Canada, throughout Europe, and back to her homeland to visit family. Most notably, Lucilia was a devoted Catholic, attended Mass faithfully, and prayed the rosary daily.

She leaves her loving children, Lino Rego and his wife, Janet, of Sebring, FL, and Ana Rego of New Bedford; her three grandchildren, Joshua Rego, Danielle Carmichaell, James Watt, Tara Conner, and Adam Conner; four great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Margarida Dumas (late husband, Richard) and Clara Viveiros (late husband, Daniel), both of Fall River; one brother, Joao Miranda and his wife, Olga, of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Manuela Orlando, Teresa Resendes, Tony Miranda, and Manuel Miranda.

Her funeral arrangements were private. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Lucilia's memory to: Muscular Dystrophy Association, 33 Lyman St., Westborough, MA 01581
