Lucy M. Souza, 87, of Fall River, wife of the late James Souza, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 23, 2018 after a long illness. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Ferreira) Medeiros. Lucy worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry for many years prior to her retirement. She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, bowling, cooking, and baking. Lucy also enjoyed her trips to the casino and ballroom dancing. She leaves: her daughter, Paula Forcier and her husband Barry of Fall River and her son, James A. Souza of East Providence; four grandchildren, Mark Simister, Susan Mello, Audrey Maigret, and James Souza; four great-grandchildren, Tristan Mello, Isabelle Mello, Emily Mello, and Aidan Simister; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Claire Simister. Following her cremation, a memorial service was held during a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel on Thursday, March 29th.
