Luis M. Oliveira, 75, of Fall River, husband of Maria dos Anjos (DaCosta) Oliveira, died Tuesday 3/11/14 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Santa Barbara de Santo Antonio, Sao Miguel, Acores, son of the late Manuel & Mariana (Anastacio) Oliveira, he emigrated to Fall River in 1965. He worked for many years as a construction laborer, retiring from Union Local #271 in 1996, and was a member of the Our Lady of Light Society Band Club. Besides his wife, of 47 years, he leaves: 2 children, Laura Carpentier (husband Thomas) of Dartmouth, and Michael Oliveira of Fall River; 7 siblings, Joao Oliveira & Maria do Carmo Reis both of Sao Paulo, Brasil, Carlos & Antonio Oliveira and Armanda Souza all of Fall River, Jose Maria Oliveira of Swansea, and Isabel Medeiros of Somerset; 3 grandchildren, Thea Alves, Sydney & Ethan Carpentier; many nieces & nephews. Also brother of the late Alfredo Oliveira. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, March 15, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
