Luis R, Furtado, 68, of Fall River, husband of Ana I. (Batista) Furtado, unexpectedly passed away at home on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Born in Fenais da Luz, St. Michael, Azores, a son of Luis Furtado of Fall River and the late Maria da Conceicao (Rodrigues) Furtado, he emigrated to Fall River in 1967.

He was employed with the former Quaker Fabric for 38 years, then worked at Fall River Florist Supply for seven years – retiring in 2014. He was a longtime member of the Our Lady of Light Band Club. Member and treasurer of the former Fall River Athletic Club, Luis had also enjoyed playing soccer for them, and was an avid Benfica fan.

Besides his wife, of 31 years, and father, he is survived by: a son, Christopher Furtado of Dighton; a granddaughter, Mirelia Lina Furtado; four siblings, Maria de Luz Furtado of Washington, D.C, Alcira Doiron of Fall River, Cecilia Furtado of Tennessee, and Isaac Furtado of Fall River; several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Manuel Furtado.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 17th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
