Luis M. Ramos, 73, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, August 12. He was the husband of Mary (Tina) Faria Ramos and the son of the late Clemente and Nina (Lourenço) Ramos. Luis was born in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores. He was a 1963 Graduate of Bradford Durfee Technical College and worked as a graphic artist for Reynolds-DeWalt Printing, in New Bedford, for 30 years until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. John of God Parish and volunteered with the St. Vincent DePaul Shelter. He was a member of the Ad Club of Fall River and a founding member of both the Ateneu-Luso Americano and Os Lusitanos. Luis was a youth soccer coach and a member of the Andiamo sailing team which raced with SYRA and the Tiverton Yacht Club. He loved the beach, enjoyed photography and continued to work on graphic design projects for family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Nicholas and Michael Gagliardi, and Aidan and Isabel Desrosiers. In addition to his wife of nearly 48 years, Luis is survived by his 3 daughters, Julie Ramos Gagliardi and her husband Nicholas, Ann Ramos Desrosiers, and her husband Andrew, and Elizabeth Ramos Prosser and her husband Jess. He is also survived by his sister Fatima Gonçalves and her husband Joaquim, brother Teófilo Ramos and his wife Ana, in-laws Joseph L. and Isaura Faria, Mary D. Faria, Mary (Peggy) Faria, and several nieces, nephews and godchildren; as well as numerous cousins both here and in Portugal. Luis was also the brother-in-law of the late John M. Faria. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, August 16, in St. Patrick Church in Somerset followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
