Luisa Maria Benevides, of Fall River, wife of Raul M. Benevides, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores, a daughter of the late Francisco da Costa Cabral and the late Maria Luisa (Rodrigues) Cabral, she emigrated to Fall River in 1966. A devoted mother and wife who enjoyed embroidery and painting, Luisa was well regarded in the community and will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Besides her husband of 59 years, she is survived by: her daughter, Maria de Deus Benevides (fiancé John F. Picard) of Fall River; granddaughter, Kaetlan Benevides Ferreira (husband David) of Taunton; brother, Francisco J. Cabral (wife Maria) of Tiverton, RI; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the devoted mother of the late Grace Benevides Furtado, and a sister-in-law of: Manuel & Diamantina Canito of Fall River, Maria Joao Couto (late husband Manuel) of Canada, and Joao Medeiros Benevides of Sao Miguel; and the late Luis Medeiros Benevides (late wife Irene), the late Manuel Medeiros Benevides (late wife Virginia), the late Maria Jose Medeiros (late husband Daniel), and the late Joao Medeiros Benevides.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 6th, in Santo Christo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
