Obituary

Luisa (Da Silva) Pereira, 91, of Fall River, widow of Agostinho C. Pereira, passed away at home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Born in Goaes Amares, Portugal, daughter of the late Adelino Da Silva and the late Ermelinda (Pinheiro) Da Silva, she emigrated to Fall River in 1969.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, having worked at the former Anderson-Little for many years; and she was also a member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union (ACTWU) now called UNITE. In addition to her loving family, Luisa's whole life focus was on work, church, and gardening, and she had also enjoyed traveling with her husband.

She is survived by: four children, Adelaide Tavares (husband Antonio) of Seekonk, Doris Pereira of Somerset, Candido Pereira (wife Ann) of Swansea, and Fernando Pereira (wife Linda) of Swansea; three grandchildren, Amanda Cimbron, Jacob Tavares, and Lucas Pereira; two great grandchildren, Ava and Kya Cimbron; and many nieces and nephews. Luisa was also the grandmother of the late Benjamin Tavares and sister of the late Maria Da Silva, Jose Da Silva and Candido Da Silva..

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, November 17th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
