Luiza
Moraes
d. May 7, 2023
Luiza Moraes, 101, of Somerset, wife of the late Manuel Moraes, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Manuel G. Souza and the late Silvana (Machado) Souza.
Prior to her retirement she worked as beautician for many years. Better known as "Vo", she loved cooking and baking for all her family. She was a very talented and skilled seamstress and quite the accomplished artist of pastels and water colors. Luiza also enjoyed crafting, crocheting, several cruises, and traveling to such places as Florida, New Hampshire, and, at the age of ninety-seven, to Hawaii to visit family. But most notably, "Vo" was a kind, selfless, and generous woman who loved her family deeply and was always willing and eager to help any one of them.
She leaves her loving and devoted children, Beverly Cwikla and her husband, Kenneth, Judith Prario (late husband, R. Bryan), and Michael Moraes and his wife, Linda, all of Somerset; her nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late David Moraes, grandmother of the late David Moraes, Jr. and the late Michael Moraes, and sister of the late Manuel G. Souza, Mary Silvia, and Edward Souza.
Her Funeral Service was held on Monday, May 15th, in our Somerset Chapel followed by her committal at Nathan Slade Cemetery in Somerset.
