Lydia C. Medeiros, 95, of Swansea, widow of John V. Medeiros, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday April 11, 2019 with family by her side, after a long illness. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Louis & Sylvana (Silva) Cabral, she moved to Swansea in 1956 and worked as an audiology & vision screening technician for the Swansea School Department from 1967 to 1989.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. Lydia was also an excellent homemaker, and excelled at cooking, baking & sewing – but her greatest passion was her family, especially traveling with her husband in their retiring years until his passing in 2005, after 60 years of marriage.

She is survived by: three children, John L. Medeiros (wife Kathryn) of Somerset, Claudia Scrivo (husband Fred) of Swansea, and Patricia Ann Viera of Bethlehem, PA; a brother, Dennis Cabral (wife Barbara) of West Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Madelyn Medeiros, David J. Seward, and Lauren Medeiros; three great grandchildren, Alexa, Jayden, and Cameron Seward; and many nieces & nephews. She was also a sister of the late Virginia Banville, Zulmira Medeiros, Theresa Cabral, Louis Cabral, and Theodore Cabral (wife Lorraine, of Seekonk).

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, April 17th, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Swansea, followed by her committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum in Fall River.
