Fall River

Obituary

Madaline Ann (Galib) Joseph, 93, passed away at her home in Fall River on Sunday, February 11, 2018.  She was the wife of the late Tofe Joseph, with whom she had shared 63 years of marriage.

Born on Quequechan Street in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Assad Galib and Haboba (Sahady) Galib.  Except for a brief period in her childhood when her family operated a small farm in Tiverton, Rhode Island, she lived her entire life in Fall River.

Madaline was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony of the Desert Church in Fall River.  She attended B.M.C. Durfee High School.  As a teenager she was a member of the Lebanon American Society Drum & Bugle Corps that performed at the 1939 New York World's Fair. She co-founded a hairdressing salon on Main Street in Fall River, and later worked in a salon in her home for many years.  In addition to caring for her six children and operating her hairdressing business, she served as President of the James M. Aldrich School Parent-Teachers Association and as a Cub Scout den mother for Pack 15, Notre Dame Church.

She expressed her love of family and friends through her fabulous Lebanese cooking, in which she took great pride and carefully attended to every detail.  No one left her home without being fed.

She is survived by sons Roger and wife Patricia of Boston, Russell and wife Susan of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Ronald and wife Anne of Windsor, Connecticut, Robert of Fall River, and Richard and wife Janet of Windham, New Hampshire; daughter Robin Casey and husband John Casey, Jr. of Fall River; grandchildren Lauren Wolongevicz and husband James, David Joseph, Johnathan Joseph and wife Elizabeth, Sara Gibson and husband James (Kip), Jessica Joseph, John Casey III, Kristen Casey, Jennifer Casey, Alison Joseph, Adam Joseph, Sean Joseph and Richelle Joseph; great-grandchildren Aaron Wolongevicz, Leah Wolongevicz, Zoey Joseph and Julian Joseph; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Martha Abdallah and the late Elias (Louie), Thomas, Marion, and Emil Galib.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, February 16th, in St. Anthony of the Desert Church followed by her committaatin Notre Dame Cemetery.
