Madeline M.
Cordeiro
d. Dec 6, 2022
Madeline M. Cordeiro, 89, of Dighton, wife of the late Raymond Cordeiro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the Catholic Memorial Home following a long illness. Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Lima and the late Lena Mary (DaPonte) Lima.
Madeline was a 1950 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and worked for the Fall River School Department as a teacher's assistant for over twenty years, retiring in 1997. An avid reader, she also loved cooking, baking, and simply being home. A long-time parishioner of St. Nicholas Myra, she was a member of its Woman's Guild, Divine Will, and often volunteered for various church activities. But what was most important to Madeline was spending quality time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her children, Catherine F. Cordeiro of Dighton, Cynthia L. Cordeiro Mercier and her husband, Ron, of Westport, Julia Martin and her husband, Tom, of Berkley, Celeste Cordeiro of Dighton, Raymond P. Cordeiro (late wife, Denise) of Fall River, and Michael Cordeiro and his wife, Sue, of Dighton; her grandchildren, Justin Cordeiro, Lauren Shepardson, Nicholas St. John, Ben Martin, Michael Velino, Evan and Virginia Callahan, and Michael Joseph Cordeiro; great-grandchildren, Jacoby Santos and Rylee Cordeiro; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Nathan Martin.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 12th, at St. Nicholas Myra Church in North Dighton followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
