Manuel J. Aguiar, 84, of Fall River, husband of the late Maria A. (Andre) Aguiar, to whom he was married for 53 years, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jacinto Leandro Aguiar and the late Belmira Botelho, he emigrated to Fall River in 1966.

Prior to his retirement, Manuel was employed as a tool maker for many years with Towle Manufacturing, formerly of Taunton. He was an avid soccer fan, having played in his youth and loved watching his favorite team Sporting play. Manuel mostly enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, John Aguiar (wife Nancy) of Tiverton, Katherine Aguiar Raposo (husband Antonio) of Fall River, Ann Aguiar of Fall River, and Kristie Ponte (husband Joseph) of Assonet; his twin brother, Humberto Aguiar (wife Coralia) of Somerset; eight grandchildren, Jarred Aguiar (wife Adelaide), Jillian Aguiar, Colin and Victoria Heroux, Dylin, Ryan and Kaitlyn Ponte, and Kasey Juarez; and several nieces and nephews. Manuel was predeceased by his siblings, Izaltina Azevedo and Jeremias Botelho.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, January 13th, in Holy Name Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
