Manuel Alves Amaral, 72, of Fall River, husband of the late Maria Daniela (de Sousa) Amaral, died Friday at Kimwell Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born in Ribeira Grande, St Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel & Isabel Ventura (Alves) de Amaral, he emigrated to Fall River in 1978. He worked for many years at Korber Hat formerly of Fall River, and for several years at American Tourister formerly of Warren, RI. An avid soccer fan, his favorite team was Sporting; and he enjoyed playing cards & dominoes at Don Carlos Club. He leaves: 4 children, Emanuel Amaral (wife Goreti) of Westport, and Estrella Margarida Candido (husband Joao), Maria Connie Correia (husband Michael) & Maria Jesus Amaral all of Fall River; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Jessica, Danielle & Jonathan Candido, Kyle & Januario Godinho, Michaela Correia, and Madison Amaral; 5 siblings, Fernando Amaral (wife Sue), Jaime Amaral (wife Carminda), Estrela Pereira, Osvalda Santos (husband Joao) & Lucia Botelho (husband Edmund) all of New Bedford; several nieces & nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, June 25, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
