Manuel Amaral Jr, of Fall River, formerly of Davis St, husband of the late Maria (Monte Carvalho) Amaral, died on April 20, 2009 at Country Gardens Nursing Home, Swansea. Born in Lomba da Maia, St Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel & Maria P. (Resendes) Amaral Cordeiro, he emigrated to Fall River in 1968. Employed in the local construction industry, he was a master carpenter for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. A member of Christian Assembly Church, Seekonk, he was also a Presbiter there for 22 years. A church-going family man with a passion for gardening, he also loved animals and enjoyed reciting poetry. Survivors include: children, Rev. John Amaral of Swansea, Clement Amaral, Christina Moniz and Bertha Demarco all of Fall River, Tony Amaral of Orlando, FL and Cesar Amaral of Westport; brother, Jose Amaral of Toronto, Canada; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Maria Branco. His funeral service was celebrated in Christian Assembly Church in Seekonk. His Committal service was held at Notre Dame Cemetery.
