Manuel "Manny"
Angelo Ventura
d. Jan 19, 2024
Manuel "Manny" Angelo Ventura, 70, of Tiverton, husband of Maria Goretti (Medeiros) Ventura, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Arrifes, São Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late José Ventura and the late Maria José (Diogo) Ventura.
Prior to his retirement he was a Systems Administrator for the Newport Daily News for many years. Over the last several years, he also worked as a school bus driver and loved many of the children he met along the way. A bit of a jokester, he also loved cooking, gardening, talking politics, and making his own wine. He enjoyed his role as a "handyman", helping at his daughters' homes whenever the need arose. He loved traveling with his family to such places as Lisbon, Canada, the Azores, and Washington, D.C. Most notably, Manuel was a devout Catholic, attended Mass faithfully, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his precious granddaughter, Gabriella.
Besides his loving wife of forty years, he leaves his daughters, Jessica Maria Ventura and her husband, Evan Salvador Custodio of North Attleboro, Veronica Angela Ventura, of Taunton, and Raquel Manuela Ventura-Bedard and her husband, Dylan Bedard, of Fall River; his granddaughter, Gabriella Maria Custodio; his sister, Angela Carvalho and her husband, Dimas, of Middletown, Rhode Island; three brothers, José Carlos Ventura and his wife, Zulmira, of the Azores, John Ventura and his wife, Olga, of Middletown, Rhode Island, and Bert Ventura and his wife, Cam, of Chepachet, Rhode Island; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 26th, at St. Theresa Church in Tiverton followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Manuel's memory to: Hasbro Children's Hospital (https://giving.lifespan.org/Hasbro/Donate) and/or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (givenow.lls.org)
