Manuel E. Bonanca, 77, of 296 Fifth St., passed away Wednesday at home surrounded by his family. Husband of Maria Bonanca for the last 52 years. Born in Sao Pedro, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Artur and Maria da Gloria (Medeiros) Bonanca. He was a member of the Academica Club. He was father of Joe, Arthur, Victor, Tony, Carlos and Paul Bonanca, Rose Bonanca, Lubelia Shay, Isabel Hurley, Sarah Cabral, and Patricia Bonanca; brother of Januario, Delfino and Arthur Bonanca, Jardelina Valentino, Maria Boanova Costello, Fatima Berg and the late Belia Costa. He also leaves 26 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was offered on Saturday (1/17) in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by committal services at St. Patrick Cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Joe, Arthur, Victor, Carlos, Tony and Paul Bonanca.
